August at Twin Hills

So far, we haven’t had much of a “summer” have we? This year has gone by so fast. School is starting already and before you know it, the holidays will be here. I think now would be a good time to call the Pro Shop for a tee time or two before it gets too cold to play.

We had really big plans for the 4th of July and are so glad that so many of our members joined us here for the holiday. The swimming pool was packed, our BBQ buffet dinner was packed and the fireworks display was huge and totally awesome. I think it was the best one ever. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of this special day.

Twin Ding, our annual member/guest golf tournament, was Wednesday through Saturday, the 16th through the 19th of July. With the exception of the rain on the first day, we couldn’t have asked for any better weather. A complete list of winners can be found in the Golf Shop section. Congratulations to all. We appreciate your participation and support of this member event and we also want to thank the members who did not participate for their patience and understanding during this event. Our members rock!!!

With school starting, the swimming pool hours will be changing to half days during the week beginning, Tuesday, August 12th. The new weekly hours will be 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday through Friday with the Snack Bar open 4:00pm until 7:00pm. Saturday and Sunday hours will remain the same. The last day of the swim season this year will be Labor Day, Monday, September 1st. Please remember all facilities will be closed on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Speaking of Labor Day, make plans to join us for a round or two of golf and some fun in the sun at the pool. We’ll begin with a breakfast buffet on the North Porch from 7:00am until 10:30am and the Grille will be open all day beginning at 7:15am. The swimming pool will open at 10:00am and close for the season at 8:00pm. We’ll also have our DJ, Jason, here from 1:00pm until 5:00pm and lots of fun and games for the kids. Want some more fun? Then join in our Annual Labor Day Yacht Race. If you would like to participate, a list of rules and regulations is available at the sign in desk at the pool or at the front desk in the Clubhouse. Participants must make a “boat” from cardboard and duct tape only (please no surf board designs). The race will start sharply at 1:00pm and will all be over by 1:05pm so don’t be late because it doesn’t take very long and you don’t want to miss this really fun event.

The Junior Club Championship has been rescheduled due to rain to Thursday, August 7th and the Men’s Club Championship is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 16th & 17th. For more information, contact the Pro Shop at 427-3947.

Jerry Broughton, our course Superintendent, and his crew are continuing the process of maintaining the course for the summer golf season. We would like to ask for your help while on the driving range. If you could leave a space between your divots, it will fill in and heal faster than if you use the same spot over and over. Also, it would be very helpful if you would replace your divots on the tees and fairways or repair them with the sand. This will help in the healing process as well as improve the overall aesthetics of the course. We thank you for your help and if at any time you have questions, Jerry will be happy to answer them for you or discuss any concerns you might have. Thanks again.

Do you need to plan a party, special dinner, wedding and/or reception, social event, business meeting or shower? Do you want to reserve a cabana at the pool? Call Sherri Mann, Event Coordinator, for more information and/or to book a date.

If you know of anyone interested in becoming a member, please contact Paul Hughes, our General Manager, for more information.

Have a great day!
